Great Barrier Island - Erosion Protection Blade Pile New Zealand

For this beachfront property on Great Barrier Island, Blade Piles were installed in partnership with Aotea Contractors, Blade Pile’s certified local installers. With their deep understanding of the island’s unique soil conditions, Aotea Contractors recognised that screw piles were the most reliable foundation solution for this site.

The piles were designed so that if the sand dunes erode, the front half of the building would remain fully suspended on Blade Piles, providing long-term protection against shifting or unstable soils. By transferring structural loads past the weak surface soils into stable ground below, the system ensures durable, resilient support for the property.

By working with local contractors who are trained and certified in Blade Pile installation, the project was completed efficiently while leveraging regional expertise and knowledge of local conditions. This project showcases how Blade Piles provide reliable foundations in coastal and erosion-prone areas, keeping homes safe even in the most challenging environments.
